My daughter’s confidence in maths grew significantly in just one term, and her second school report clearly showed a meaningful improvement in her mathematical skills.
Arya and Aryan explain concepts really well, and it’s made a big difference for my child. They’re very patient, take the time to address all our questions, and always provide helpful feedback.
She has made major improvements in her weakest sections and is more confident now.

Advanced Concepts is the base every Test Academy student builds on. The exam courses are added on top of it when your child is ready, and the base keeps running underneath them.
Walks out able to work two years past the grade, because the gaps get found and filled while there is still time.
Sits the OC test having already met every question type under time.
Arrives at selective preparation with the content already done, so the year goes on exam practice.
Finishes primary school a year ahead in maths rather than starting high school from scratch.
Every year group is taught separately, so nobody sits through work they have already done. These are the times for the term now open. Later terms run on the same nights and are all on the schedule above.

Advanced Concepts Class is designed for Year 3, Year 4, and Year 5 students. Year 3 students typically attend every term throughout Year 3. Year 4 students can join fresh — whether coming straight from the OC Mastery track or beginning the Selective pathway for the first time — attending from Term 2 through to Year 5. Year 5 students attend in preparation for Selective Mastery, which typically begins in Term 2 or 3 of Year 5.
Advanced Concepts is the foundational course that sets students up for our intensive exam prep programs. Year 3 students typically transition into OC Mastery from Term 2 or 3, continuing through to Year 4 Term 1 before the OC Test. Year 4 students — whether starting fresh or continuing after OC prep — attend Advanced Concepts from Term 2, building toward Selective Mastery which begins in Year 5 Term 2 or 3.
Not at all. While the curriculum increases in complexity from Year 3 to Year 5, we deliberately revisit and re-teach the most important foundational skills and concepts throughout the program. Students who join at Year 4 or Year 5 will not have missed anything that cannot be picked up — our teachers identify any gaps and address them as part of normal teaching.
Yes — Advanced Concepts is available concurrently with OC Mastery or Selective Mastery. Many students continue with Advanced Concepts alongside their exam prep class, as it reinforces core skills and deepens understanding while the mastery class focuses on exam-specific technique and strategy.
Yes — mid-term enrolment is available. Families pay pro-rata for the remaining sessions in the term, so you're never charged for classes that have already passed.
When you enrol, our system guides you through a digital consultation on the student dashboard. We gather information about your child's strengths, weaknesses, and goals to complete their student profile — so that teaching is personalised from day one.
If your child misses a session, they can attend any other available session that week — simply email us in advance to notify. Depending on availability, they may also be able to join an online session instead.
The Test Academy dashboard is your central hub. Parents can track improvement over time, view test analytics, and review personalised teacher feedback after every session. Regular assessments give you a clear, data-driven picture of where your child is excelling and what still needs attention.
All tutors are selective high school graduates with a 98+ ATAR who have at least a few years of teaching experience. They are undertaking or have completed Law or STEM degrees at USyd or UNSW.
Yes — switching between online and in-person attendance is possible with notice to our admin team. We're happy to accommodate flexibility where we can.
We offer a free first session subject to availability. Most parents commit knowing they can leave within the first two weeks — and almost all end up staying.
Just stationery, a snack, and water. Everything else — from printed booklets and worksheets to computers — is provided by us. We don't do BYOD.
Yes. During online enrolment, we offer a multi-term discount for families who are committed to ongoing preparation — just as we're committed to helping your child thrive.
Returning students who re-enrol receive a 5% discount — permanently. Once you're part of the Test Academy family, you're always looked after.
Yes. A 5% sibling discount is provided upon request when two or more students from the same family are joining, or if an existing sibling is already enrolled with us.
For parents of a bright primary student who wants more than school offers, whether or not an OC or selective test is on the horizon. Facts about the tests and NAPLAN come from the NSW Department of Education and ACARA and are current as at September 2026.
Most pages that say extension are test preparation wearing a label. This class is the other thing. It teaches maths and English a level or so ahead of the school year in small groups, so that a Year 3 or Year 4 child who finishes the classroom work early has somewhere to go with it. The reason the two jobs are different is in the department's own description of the placement tests: they measure ability rather than school performance, and the questions do not test the curriculum. So a child needs both a strong curriculum foundation, which is this class, and familiarity with the test question types, which is what the OC Mastery and Selective Mastery classes add later. If you are not going for OC or selective at all, the class still stands on its own. A Year 4 student who is fluent with fractions, ratios and multi-step problems, reads above their year and can write a structured piece is simply better placed for Year 5, Year 6 and the jump to high school, whichever school that turns out to be.
NAPLAN runs for Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 each March; NAPLAN 2027 is 10 to 22 March and 2026 was 11 to 23 March, per ACARA's key dates. This is not a NAPLAN course and we do not run drills for it, but the numeracy, reading and writing taught here are the same skills NAPLAN samples, so families notice the March results move. It is worth knowing that a strong NAPLAN or ICAS result is not the same thing as OC or selective readiness. The department states that placement tests measure ability rather than academic performance, and that NAPLAN results, ICAS results and school reports are not grounds for a placement appeal.
The Opportunity Class Placement Test is sat in May of Year 4, with applications opening in early November of Year 3, and OC places run for Year 5 and 6. The Selective High School Placement Test is sat in May of Year 6, with applications opening in November of Year 5, for entry to Year 7. They are separate applications and separate tests, and an OC place gives no advantage for selective entry. The usual path through our classes is Advanced Concepts from the start of Year 3, OC Mastery added in Term 2 or 3 of Year 3 and run alongside until the Year 4 test, Advanced Concepts continuing through Year 5, then Selective Mastery from Year 5 until the Year 6 test, and High School Maths Mastery after it. Details of the tests are in the department's placement procedures.
Four strands, taught by year level. Mathematics: number sense, the four operations to fluency, fractions, decimals, ratios, angles and measurement, and multi-step worded problems that need a plan. Thinking skills: pattern, sequence, spatial and logical reasoning, built up from simple cases so the multi-step versions in the OC and selective tests do not arrive cold. English and reading: vocabulary, reading longer passages with a method, and answering under time. Writing: planning, paragraphing, creative and persuasive structure, grammar and editing. Sessions are 2.5 hours once a week during term in a class of no more than eight, in Parramatta or online, with homework set each week and the parent dashboard showing what was covered. A free trial class comes first, and we will tell you honestly if a child is better placed in a different year group or is not ready yet.
There is no NSW rule on this and we will not invent one. Our view, from running the class, is that one good session a week plus short daily practice at home is plenty for most primary students, and that the signs to watch for are fatigue and a child who stops wanting to come. School extension groups under the department's High Potential and Gifted Education policy run inside the classroom and vary a lot from school to school; this class is a supplement to that, not a replacement for it. Research on academic acceleration for students selected on readiness finds no harm to social or emotional development; the same research is clear that pushing a child who is not ready is a different matter, which is what the trial class is for.
The centre is at Suite 107, 18-20 Ross Street, Parramatta, a short walk from the station, with families from Harris Park, Westmead, Granville, Rosehill, North Parramatta and across Western Sydney; online classes run the same session live with the same teacher. Fees are $875 a term, plus a small materials fee shown before you pay, with the multi-term discount when you book more than one term. A $10 deposit holds a place.
Small classes, real exam practice, and teachers who sat in your child's seat not long ago.
