Using an access code

1 min read Updated Oct. 2026
Where to find it
Dashboard > Classwork > Tests Open it

A teacher can set a test directly rather than through a bundle. It is opened with a short access code on the Classwork page, not from the Practice page.

Opening the test

  1. Go to Dashboard, then Classwork.
  2. On the Tests tab, type the code into Enter Access Code. Codes are short and are not case sensitive.
  3. Press Find Test.
  4. A card appears with the test name and duration. Press Start Test.

If your child has already opened that test, the card offers Continue Attempt instead, or View Results and Start New Attempt once it has been finished.

Afterwards

A paper opened with a code stays on Classwork. Its score and its review live on the Results & Review tab of that page, not on the Practice page. Everything on the review page works the same way as it does for a bundle paper.

If the code will not work

The message Code not found or not available for your class means one of these:

  • The code was mistyped. Check it character by character with the teacher.
  • The test belongs to a course your child is not enrolled in.
  • Your child is signed in to a different account from the enrolled one. Sign out and back in as the student.

If the code still fails, ask the teacher to confirm it is the current code, then contact us if it is.

Tests that need no code

A test set to the whole class can appear on the Classwork page by itself. If it is already listed, there is nothing to type: press Start Test on the card.
