Everything to do with an ACST sitting happens on the ACST page of your dashboard, under three tabs: Sittings, Results and Papers. For what the ACST is and what the report contains, see the Australian Computerised Selective Trial guide.
Who can book
The account needs a verified email address, and the year level on the student profile must be Year 5, Year 6, OC or Selective. If either is missing, the page says so and links you to the place to fix it. A student holds one sitting per event, because every date in an event uses the same papers, and can book more than one event.
Booking and paying
- Open ACST on your dashboard and choose Choose sittings.
- Filter by All, Online or Parramatta, then pick the sittings you want. Each one shows the date, the time, where it is, and how full it is in words, from Open through Filling and Nearly full to Booked out.
- Choose Continue to payment and pay by card. The price of each sitting and the total are shown before you pay.
Putting more than one sitting in the same checkout reduces the price of every sitting after the first. That reduction applies inside one checkout only: a separate booking made later is charged at the full sitting price again. If you have an adjustment code, open Have an adjustment code? in the booking window and press Apply; a code may only work on some purchases, so one made for another product can be refused. Prices are per student.
Only a few of an event's dates are open at a time. The next one opens once the open dates are close to full, so a date that is not listed yet may still appear. When you have paid, the booking is confirmed on the page straight away with a reference, and a confirmation email follows with a calendar file for each sitting.
Moving a sitting
On the Sittings tab, Move sitting moves a confirmed booking to any open sitting in the same event or a later one, at no charge. The button disappears once the sitting is too close to start, and the card then says how far ahead a move has to be made. Sittings cannot be cancelled or refunded from the dashboard, so contact us if your child cannot sit at all.
Before the day
Check a few days beforehand that your child can sign in to Test Academy with the account email address and password. Logins cannot be reset during a sitting.
- At Parramatta: arrive 10 minutes early with a pencil case, water and a snack. We provide the computer.
- Online: your child needs a laptop or desktop with a working camera and microphone, and a quiet room. The Google Meet link is emailed shortly before the start, and a Join on Google Meet button appears on the ACST page closer to the time.
On the day the papers appear under the Papers tab. Each one asks for the Access code, which the supervisor gives out, in the room or on the call.
Results
Results are released for a whole event at once, after every paper has been marked, usually within a week of the last sitting. Until then the Results tab says the papers are still being marked. When they are ready it offers Open results and Download PDF, and the report is emailed as well.
