Booking a tutoring session

1 min read Updated Oct. 2026
Where to find it
Dashboard > 1-on-1 Tutoring > Book > Book (tutor's first name) Open it

Booking runs over three steps on the tutor's page: Times, Focus, then Pay. Nothing is charged until you press the Pay button on the last step. The bar at the bottom shows how many sessions you have picked and the total, with Next, then Continue, then Pay.

Step 1: Times

  1. Choose a length. The chips show each length with its price.
  2. If the tutor offers both, choose In person or Online.
  3. Use the arrows to move between weeks and tap a day. Days with no open times are greyed. If the week is empty, Next free jumps to the first open day.
  4. Tap a time to add a session. Tap it again to remove it.

Each session appears under Your sessions, where you can change its length or where it is held, remove it, or repeat it. A time can only be picked if the tutor is free for every hour of it. Bookings need some notice, and cannot go past the end of the last term open for booking.

To book more than one session, keep tapping times, or use Repeat weekly. See Repeating a session weekly.

Step 2: Focus

Tell the tutor what to work on, or leave it to them. See Setting your session focus.

Step 3: Pay

  1. Check each session and the Total. Show breakdown lists the rate times the hours for each one.
  2. If you have a code, open Have an adjustment code?. See How tutoring sessions are priced.
  3. Read the Booking terms and tick I agree to the 1-on-1 booking terms. The Pay button stays off until you do.
  4. Enter your card details and press Pay with the total on it.

Everything in the booking is one payment and one receipt. The terms are also on the Terms page.

After paying

The confirmation page lists every session with an Add to calendar button for each, and a confirmation email follows with the same terms. If the bank asks for an extra check, you return to that page afterwards. If the payment is still processing, the page keeps checking and tells you if it will email once it clears.

If a time is taken

If someone books a time while you are paying, you go back to Times with that session marked. Pick another time and pay again.
