Running a live session

1 min read Updated Oct. 2026
Where to find it
Admin dashboard > Private Tutoring > My sessions > Open console

During a session the tutor works from the live console: boards they push to the student one at a time, with everything pushed saved to the session record. Open console appears on the session in My sessions when its window opens.

Boards

A board can be a worksheet page, a LearningHub or test question chosen by skill or from a past attempt, a fresh whiteboard, or an uploaded page or image. The student only sees a board once it is pushed. Queueing one does not show it.

Working on a board

Tutor and student can both write on a pushed board. The student answers questions in place and they are marked when the tutor reveals the answer. Worksheet pages are marked by hand on the same board.

In person or online

The console works the same either way. In person, the tutor usually runs it on the centre's screen and the student's device is optional. Online, the student follows the same boards on their own screen during the video call.
