How 1-on-1 tutoring works

1-on-1 Private Tutoring pairs a student with one tutor for a session built around them, in person at Parramatta or online. It sits alongside term classes and online practice rather than replacing them.

The 1-on-1 Tutoring page

Everything is on one page with three tabs:

  • Book: the tutors, and the Book button for each.
  • My sessions: the next session first, then everything upcoming, then past sessions with their feedback.
  • Work: tasks a tutor has set between sessions.

The page opens on My sessions when there is a session coming up or new feedback to read, and on Book otherwise.

Who it suits

Opportunity Class and Selective students are matched with specialist tutors for that test. Every other year level, including NAPLAN preparation, is matched with general tutors. The match comes from the student's year level, so the tutors a family sees already fit.

Booking and paying

A booking is one or more sessions with one tutor, picked in three steps (Times, Focus, Pay) and paid in one card payment. There is no membership and no credit pack. Each hour is charged at the tutor's rate. See Booking a tutoring session and How tutoring sessions are priced.

If plans change

A booked session cannot be cancelled or refunded. It can be moved to another open time with the same tutor, up to a cutoff before it starts. See Rescheduling a tutoring session.
