Preparing for a session

1 min read Updated Oct. 2026
Where to find it
Admin dashboard > Private Tutoring > My sessions > Prep

Before a session, open Prep on it from My sessions to see the student and get the material ready. Families never see this screen.

The brief and the focus

The screen opens with a short written brief about the student and their weak areas, then either a mastery breakdown (specialist track) or a skill progress list (general track). It also shows the focus the family chose, which can be a list of areas, a test to review, a question-type strategy, a note, or Tutor decides when the family left it to you.

Building the session

On the general track, pick skills, a difficulty and a question count and generate a worksheet, or choose one already made. On the specialist track, pick questions by skill or from the student's own wrong answers and add each to the session.

History

A history panel lists the student's earlier sessions with any tutor: focus, feedback, outcomes and set work, so a new tutor can carry on from the last one.

Starting

When the material is ready, Open in console moves to the live session. See Running a live session.
