Choosing a tutor

1 min read Updated Oct. 2026
Where to find it
Dashboard > 1-on-1 Tutoring > Book Open it

The Book tab only lists tutors who match the student: Opportunity Class and Selective students see specialist tutors, and every other student sees general tutors. Nobody chooses this and there is nothing to switch.

Reading a tutor card

Each card shows, top to bottom:

  • the tutor's photo, or their initials when they have no photo
  • their name and a one-line headline
  • the subjects and year levels they teach
  • From and a price per hour, which is their starting rate
  • Next free and the first open time in the coming weeks, or a note that there are no times
  • a Book button with the tutor's first name on it

The tutor the student booked most recently is listed first and marked Book again. When there are enough tutors, filters for year level and focus appear above the cards.

On the booking page

Tapping Book opens that tutor's own page. The top of it shows their photo, headline, a few highlights such as school and qualifications, and a short bio with Read more. Below it are the three booking steps. See Booking a tutoring session.

If no times are free

Availability belongs to each tutor. A fully booked tutor stays on the list and shows no free times. Try another tutor who teaches the same track.
